Don Olson, one of 310 Running’s original coaches, had been in a race to stay ahead of cancer for a little more than two years. He amazed everyone by continuing to live his life to the fullest, including competing in one last Ironman triathlon in Florida in November 2012. Don crossed the finish line for the last time on April 18th, 2013 at home with his family.
To honour Don, 310 Running renamed its annual 5K race the ‘Don Olson Classic’. At Don’s request, all proceeds from the race each fall are donated to Bethell Hospice Foundation. In the past two years, proceeds from the Don Olson Classic have contributed a total of $10,000.
