Don Olson Classic

October 5, 2019

Many thanks to all the runners and volunteers who made the 7th annual Don Olson Classic such a great success.  Special thanks to Scott Skimming, and everyone at 310 Running, for organizing such an outstanding event.  Held October 5 at Albion Hills Conservation Area, the day featured perfect running weather, a beautiful course, some fast times and a full suite of new champions.

Congratulations to this year’s fastest finishers:

Xavier King had an impressive DOC debut taking the men’s 5K title in 16:29. Justin Jelaca took the silver again this year in 16:31, and Jack Lehto rounded out the top three with a time of 17:14.

In the women’s 5K, Naomi Hermann upgraded from bronze last year to gold with a time of 19:02.  310 Running’s Sierra Rodrigues and Aysia Maurice took the silver and bronze in 19:10 and 19:13 respectively.

Eric Unger’s 8:16 was the fastest time ever run in the youth 2.5K race, eclipsing the senior boys’ course record by four seconds.  The top overall female in the 2.5K race was Hannah Hollins with a time of 9:02.

2019 relay champions were James & Richard Yates, who completed the 2 x 2.5K event in 20:16.  The silver medal went to Leslie McArthur & Steve Schause with a time of 21:53, and the bronze to Shawna & Henry Thomson in 23:37.

Many thanks to 2019 race sponsors:  Bolton Physiotherapy Clinic, PSI – Power Sonic Industries, Royal Containers Ltd., Mars Canada Inc., and Sidan Traffic Control.
